Application to Self

What I’ve taken away from the readings we’ve been assigned so far is that leadership holds a completely different meaning then I ever imagined. I used to think that leadership was something greater then me, that only someone with immense power could call them selves a leader. Someone who is outgoing, cocky and walks into a room saying look at me and make sure your getting your work done. Now I am realizing that there is leadership every day all around us. That changing one person’s perspective of the world for the better is being a leader. Coming to work and giving your employees the tools needed to be successful, allowing them to grow and finding greatness within them that they didn’t know was there. Being a leader isn’t about you. Being a leader is about caring for your people, being humble, reserved, and professional and carrying no air of self-importance. Doing this will give others the confidence to follow you, and what is a leader without their followers?
